The Swedish Work Environment Authority´s provisions on systematic work environment management (Systematiskt arbetsmiljöarbete – grundläggande skyldigheter för dig med arbetsgivaransvar, AFS 2023:1) contain rules on work environment policy, knowledge and the obligation of employers to regularly investigate and assess the risks that may be associated with their activities. There are also rules requiring employers to take measures to address the risks. The aim is to prevent ill health caused by work and to create a good work environment for all.

The provisions on organisational and social work environment (Planering och organisering av arbetsmiljöarbete - grundläggande skyldigheter för dig med arbetsgivaransvar, AFS 2023:2, chapter 2 Organisatorisk och social arbetsmiljö) clarify specific factors that are important to work on in this area. By conducting a regular organisational and social work environment review, your department can meet statutory requirements and learn about the risks that you face in this area. The organisational and social work environment review should be regarded as supplementing to other investigations in the form of staff performance and development conversations, staff meetings, etc.
