Connecting a recording to a quiz in Studium is often a good idea to increase interaction with the recording and thereby enhance student learning. A quiz also gives students the opportunity to check whether they have understood the recording. In Studium, you can either embed questions directly into the recording or allow students to watch or listen to the entire recording before answering questions about it as a whole. The different approaches are described below.

If you are new to quizzes in Studium, you can find all guides for this tool on the Canvas quiz guide pages.

Option 1: Quiz Questions Along the Timeline During the Recording

You can insert quiz questions directly into a recording so that students answer them while watching or listening. Adding questions directly into a recording in this way supports the following question types:

Multiple Choice
True or False
Multiple Answer

When adding the questions, it looks like this:

And when all quiz questions have been added, it looks like this:

Option 2: Quiz Questions About the Recording as a Whole

Another option is to include the recording as part of a quiz containing either only the recording or additional questions. You do this by selecting Stimulus, which is available when adding a question. See below.

This method allows you to use all question types, including Essay questions for free-text responses or reflections.

Start building a quiz and add a question by clicking "+".
In the menu that appears, click "Stimulus".
Under "Content", you will find Canvas Studio, where you can add a recording from your Canvas Studio library.
After adding the video, click Done. It will then appear as shown below, and by clicking "Add Question", you can add any questions you would like students to answer in connection with the recording

Good luck! Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
