Question Types

The following question types are available in the course evaluation system:

Short Text – Used when expecting a brief, one-line response.
Long Text – Used when expecting a more detailed text response.
Single Choice – Only one option can be selected.
Multiple Choice – Multiple options can be selected.
Scale – A rating scale with a customizable number of levels.
Grouped Scale – Multiple scale questions using the same rating scale (matrix question).
Dropdown – A single-choice question with a dropdown list containing multiple options.
Ranking – Used to sort predefined options in order.
File Upload – Allows file uploads.

For both types of scale questions, an average value is automatically calculated in the summary. The scale used for the average calculation starts at 1 for the first value and increases by 1 for each subsequent response option.

Retrieve Questions from a Template

A quick way to create a course evaluation is by using a template. Templates are available at the university-wide level, faculty level, and departmental level. Departmental templates have been transferred from the Student Portal after consultation with departmental directors of studies and heads of department.

To access this, click on Course Evaluations in the course menu in Studium. Then, on the overview page of the course evaluation system, click the green button Create Course Evaluation for xxx to proceed to the Questions step in the creation process, which consists of:
Questions --- About the Form --- Done

Here, you will see the template selector in the green section.

Note: A blank question is always present in the question editor by default. Delete this blank question by clicking the trash bin icon in the lower-right corner of the question.

Retrieve Questions from a University-Wide Template

Select University's common templates from the left menu

and then choose a template from the right menu.

Templates with "(KoU SP)" at the end of their name are identical to the templates previously available in the Student Portal (SP), created by the Quality and Evaluation Unit (KoU).

The questions will automatically populate the course evaluation. You can then remove, edit, or add course-specific questions manually using the question editor, as described below.

Retrieve Questions from a Departmental Template

To retrieve questions from a departmental template, first select the disciplinary domain from the left menu, then select the department from the middle menu. Finally, choose a template from the right menu. The course evaluation will then be filled with the department's questions, which you can delete, edit, or supplement with additional questions as needed.

Create Questions Manually

You can create questions manually by selecting a question type from the menu on the right, entering the question text, and, if applicable, response options. Add new questions by clicking the plus sign below the first question.

You also have the option to add a comment box or a "Do not know" option for certain question types. The text for the "Do not know" option and the title above the comment box can be edited. Responses marked as "Do not know" are not included in the scale's mean value calculation.

Once you have finalized the course evaluation content, click Next Step in the bottom right corner.
You will then proceed to the course evaluation settings page About the form, where you can configure details about the form.
