Gradebook | Overview

Overview of the Gradebook

  1. Assignments Columns
All graded assignments, graded discussions, graded quizzes, and graded surveys are displayed as assignment columns in the Gradebook. You cannot create custom columns or remove columns from the Gradebook.

  2. View students on the left
On the left, you can see all students in the course. The students are sorted alphabetically by their surname.

  3. Exit the Gradebook
You can leave the Gradebook by clicking on the three lines in the top left corner. This will open the course menu for navigation.

Assignment Columns

In the assignment column, information about each student's submission is displayed. Here you can see if the student has submitted / completed the assignment, what status the assignment has in relation to the set deadline and the report from Ouriginal (if an assignment is to be reviewed).

Coloured Flags in Assignment Columns

If the assignment is to be analysed for plagiarism by Ouriginal (Urkund), then you will see icons in the assignment column. (Guide: Ouriginal)

The little colored flags mean that the assignment has been analysed by Ouriginal.

The clock means that Ouriginal is still analysing the assignment.

Assignment Column Options

If you place your cursor in the title area of an assignment column, there should appear three dots on it's right. Click on the three dots to open the options menu

  1. SpeedGrader — Open the assignment in SpeedGrader. (SpeedGrader is Studium's tool for correcting and marking assignments. Read more about SpeedGrader in this guide.)
  2. Message students who — Here you can direct messages at students who, for example, haven't yet submitted an assignment.
  3. *Curve grades — Warning: Read more about Curve grades in the red box below.
  4. Set default grade — Set a default grade for all students who haven't yet received a grade.
  5. Post grades/Hide grades (Read about manually posting grades here.)
*NOTICE: UU recommends avoiding using the Curve grades tool. Grade curving evens out differences between students' results; it alters all entered assessments, and is not often applicable at Swedish universities. Grade curving cannot be undone. Pre-curved grade histories will be available, but the curving action is irreversible.

Search for a specific student and/or assignment

Above the assignment column, you have the option to search for a specific student or an assignment.

  1. In the left field, you can begin searching for a student by entering the students name (just a few letters usually does the trick). Select the student. If you wish to search for more students, click the left field and search once again.
  2. In the right field, you can search for specific assignments. Begin by searching for the assignments name (a few letters should be enough) and then select the assignment.

There are more advanced options to filter the Gradebook. See the guide: Gradebook | Filters

Create a Column for Notes

You can use a Notes column in the Gradebook to keep track of extra information in your course, such as extra student information or general notes. All instructors (teachers and admins) can use this column to take notes and read each other's notes. The Notes column is not visible to students.

    1. Click on the cogwheel in the upper right corner.
  1. Click the tab View Options
  2. Tick the box: Notes
  3. Apply Settings
  4. Now you have added the assignment column to the Gradebook.
