Create a Group Discussion

  1. Click on Discussions in the course menu. 
  2. Click + Discussion.

3. Give your discussion a title.
4. Now write a clear descriptive text so the students know what to discuss.

5. Check the box This is a Group Discussion.

6. If you haven't created any groups yet then there will be a a box here where you can enter the name of your new group set. If you already have completed groups, click the drop down menu and choose the one you want.
Alternatively, you may create a new group anyways by clicking New Group Category. 

7. If you want to lock the discussion until a certain date, or lock it past a certain date, you can set the dates here.

8. Click Save and your group discussion is created.


The discussion is then duplicated for each group

When you have created your group discussion, the title and descriptive text is then duplicated for each separate group. The students in the group will only see entries from others in the same group.
