Student sections in Joint Courses
A joint section course in Studium is a manually created course in which students from several course sessions are included. The students are added to the joint course by copying the student sections from each course. In the picture below, we show a joint course with two student sections.
Because this course has several course sections, we are able to create a group set in which att group members must be part of the same student section. This way we can easily divide the sections into smaller groups.
NOTICE
- Keep in mind that this method only works in joint section courses. In regular courses, all students belong to the same Ladok section.
- If there are sections in your joint course where students overlap and belong in both sections, the students will also overlap when divided into groups.
- Sometimes there is a manually created section for teachers and administrators. This will not effect the groups.
Create groups based on sections
- Gå till People och klicka på + Group set.
- Name the group set.
- Choose whether you want to create the groups automatically or if the students sign-up to the groups themselves. (In this example, I have chosen to create 4 groups automatically.)
- Check "Require group members to be in the same section".
- Save.
After you create the groups, you can click on a group name to see all the students who are members. The system tries to distribute the students as evenly as possible. In this example, Section B has a total of 6 students and became one group. Section A has 22 students and became 3 groups.
