Let Students Choose Their Group

If you want students to sign up for groups themselves or if you wish for students to choose topics, here's how:

Click on People.
Click +Group set.
Give the Group set a name.
Check the box for Allow self sign-up
Group structure:
a.) Type the number of groups you would like to create
b.) Type the maximum number of students per group
Save.

Notice: Students are not automatically notified that they should choose groups. You can send them a message via Inbox, or post an announcement on the course page to let them know they need to sign up.

If the students have yet to choose groups:

To see which groups the students have chosen so far, you can click on people in the course menu and then the group set. Here is a list of the groups and their current members. On the left, there is a list of unassigned students.

If you wish to send a reminder to students which have yet to sign up you can do so via the three dots next to the + Group button > Message All Unassigned Students.

When the deadline has passed, if you want, you can let Studium randomly assign the last students > Randomly assign students.

Manually assign remaining students:

Another option is to manually assign the students which have failed to choose their own groups.

To assign them to groups, drag each individual one to the appropriate group. Or you can click the plus sign and assign their group that way.

Notice: Do not move students after an assignment has been connected to the group. This could lead to group assignments from one group being transferred to the new group. Possibly erasing the new group's assignments completely.
