NEW Rich Content Editor (RCE)

The 14th December, the Classic RCE will be replaced by a New RCE. The New RCE provides a more intuitive and condensed toolbar with a bigger content area to create content with. You can try using the New RCE now by enabling it in in Course Settings > Feature Options > RCE Enhancements.

Overview: Rich Content Editor

You will come across the Rich Content editor in several places within Studium, such as: Pages, Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, Announcements, etc. Here is a quick overview of the RCE tools:

Content area — In the content area, you can add and preview page content.
Menu-bar — In the menu-bar you can find all formatting tools, tools for uploading files, external tools, etc.
Formatting tools — Format text, add headers, change text color, etc.
Insert — Insert links, media and files.
External tools — Here you can access external tools such as Canvas Studio and YouTube.
Format paragraphs — Change text alignment, create lists and add indentations
Clear formatting.
Tables — Create tables, edit tale preferences, etc.
Equations.
Embed — Insert embed codes
Accessibility Checker
Raw HTML — Enter Raw HTML editing mode.

Format Text

Change text size. Remember to try and keep text 12pt and bigger to keep text accessible.
You can add change text to Header 2, Header 3 and Header 4. Ordinary text should be formatted as a Paragraph.
Make text Bold, Italicized or Underlined.
Change text color. Make sure to use the Accessibility Checker to check if the color is accessible.
Change background color.

Insert Links, Media & Documents

External Links: Link to an external website.
Course Links: Link to a page, assignment, discussion, module, navigation link, etc, within Studium.
Upload Image: Upload an image off your computer.
Course Images: Choose an already uploaded image from the course's files.
User Media: Choose an image from your account's files.
Upload/Record Media: Upload a video-file off your computer or record a short video.
Course Media: Choose an already uploaded video file from the course's files.
User Media: Choose a video file from your account's files.
Upload Document: Upload a document.
Course Documents: Choose an already uploaded document from the course's files.
User Documents: Choose a document from your account's files.

External Tools

You can find all external tools here. For example, you can find the Canvas Studio tool here and use it to embed/upload a video from your Canvas Studio library.

Clear Formatting

A tip: If you copy and paste text from Word (or PingPong or the Student Portal)) and it inherits unwanted formatting, you can remove this by clicking the Clear formatting button.

Auto-save function

The new Rich Content Editor now saves your work as a draft up to one hour after you exit the page. This means if you accidentally close your browser window, or your computer unexpectedly shuts off, that you can still recover your work.

Notice: We still recommend saving often so you can return to an old version of the page if necessary.
