Use a QR code to register attendance

Students scan a QR code, log in with their university account, and are automatically marked as present. Attendance is recorded directly in Grades in Studium, reducing manual administration.

Which assignments can be selected in the attendance tool?

For an assignment to appear in the tool, it must meet the following settings:

The assignment must be published.
The assignment must be worth at least 1 point.
Submission type: No submission.
The assignment must be individual. Group assignments are not shown.

The visibility of the assignment can be controlled by availability dates. If no availability date is set, the default is that the assignment is visible.

Which students can register attendance?

For a student to register attendance, they must be assigned the assignment.
Students who have already passed the assignment cannot scan again. These students receive a message stating they are already approved and the time it happened. However, the list in the attendance tool does not show if the student was marked manually via Grades.
If a student cannot scan the QR code, attendance must be written down on paper and manually entered into the relevant assignment in Studium.

Instruction

Click on Student list in the course menu.
Then click on the QR code for attendance tab.
Select the assignment from the drop-down list.

Display the QR code to students on a screen. You can enlarge the QR code by clicking on it.

Students scan the code, log in with their university account, and receive confirmation that their attendance has been registered.
Note: The QR code automatically changes every 30 seconds and is valid for 1 minute. If scanning does not work for a student, ask them to scan the code again.
You can see in the list which students have registered. Attendance is automatically transferred to Grades.
