What is Zoom?
Zoom is the preferred e-meeting service at Uppsala University, provided by Sunet and free to use for all employees (except "Övrigt verksam Mini") and students at Uppsala University. With Zoom, you are able to invite students, colleagues and external contacts to meetings with video and sound, from your own computer.
It can be used for a multitude of purposes including:
- Online seminars
- Lectures
- Private tutoring
- Meetings with colleagues
Some examples of what you can do with Zoom:
- Share a PowerPoint (with animations)
- Share your browser
- Share documents and/or attach files
- Chat with students via chat box or microphone
- Write (or draw) using the virtual whiteboard
- Create polls for student voting
Activate your Zoom account
- Go to https://uu-se.zoom.us
- Click Sign-in.
- This opens UU's Joint Web Login where you can enter your login details as usual.
Now your Zoom account is activated.
Install the client
- Go to http://uu-se.zoom.us
Links to an external site. and choose the link "Download client" at the bottom of the page.
- Click on Download.
The Zoom client install is being downloaded and you can find it in your folder for downloaded files.
- Open the downloaded files folder and start the program. Click accept on the prompt that shows up, asking if you want to install the program.
- The program should start automatically but you may have to start it manually by double clicking the Zoom icon on your desktop. Click "Sign in with SSO".
- Type in "uu-se" in the field and click on Continue.
- The webpage for the university's Joint Web Login opens. Log in as usual.

If you want to join or host a Zoom meeting on your phone or tablet, download the Zoom-app. It is free for both android and iOS.
