All laboratory work produces waste, which needs to be discarded safely. Please, keep the health and the environment in mind when handling waste!

Laboratory waste, is any waste related to laboratory work, such as scalpels, pipette tips, gloves, etc.

Examples of laboratory waste:

Chemical waste
Biological waste
Infectious waste
Radioactive waste
Genetically modified waste
Medicine, drugs, and cytostatics
Material contaminated with any of the above
Non-contaminated laboratory related waste
Sharps

Uppsala University has a contract with Ragn-Sells for disposal of laboratory waste. Check the procedures for sorting and collecting laboratory waste at your particular campus management.
