Case & PBL (28/10)
This is an exploratory session - AI and all that, but it can be helpful to discuss and test in a specific pedagogic/didactic context. Both the Case, method and material, and Problem-Based Learning are well-established learning design strategies. Each has its basic pedagogic aims and purposes, as well as structures regarding how students should work.
The base question, as with all established learning design strategies, is how Large-language models and generative AI will affect the various elements of these. How will the process of acquiring and processing knowledge, for example in relation to Kolb´s process model of experiental learning, be affected? Which elements require revision, and what elements in a curriculum and syllabus require revision and updating?
These are some of the questions addressed during the session, 13:00 - 16:00 on October 28 in room 21:241 "Orkanen".
