Drug Discovery and Development

Welcome to the course Drug Discovery and Development!

The course is given both as a freestanding course, and as starting course for the Master's Programme in Drug Discovery and Development, and Master's Programme in Pharmaceutical Modelling. The course, as well as the and the programmes, start on September 2, 2024, and are given on the campus Biomedical Center (BMC).

Master's students starts with general information in B8 at BMC between 8:15 and 9:00, followed by a lectures.lThe course introduction for all students will be in B41 at BMC between 13:15-14:00, and will be followed by a lecture.l

Please note that before start, you have to register for the course online! Students that wish to participate must register by themselves within the registration period 2024-07-25 - 2024-08-25 in order to not risk losing their place on the course and/or the programme.

Webb registration is necessary in order to participate on the course and can be done via Ladok https://www.student.ladok.se/student/loggain.

For students that are required to pay tuition fees - If you have payed the tuition fee and the registration period has opened but you still are unable to register for the course, please send an e-mail to feemaster@uu.se and ask that your payment is connected to this course. When your payment has been connected to the course you should be able to register.

At the bottom of the global menu to the far left, you will find the Hjälp/Help function with student user information about the system Studium (Canvas), which we are using for these course pages.

The course and course literature:

This course covers all the different phases of the drug development process. More specifically, the course deals with identification and validation of target molecule (the target), identification and optimization of active substance, ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity) profiling, in vivo and in vitro pharmacology, formulation, biomarkers and disease models, clinical trials, registration and commercialization.
