Welcome to Mindfulness-Based Stress Management
I am delighted to welcome you all to the Mindfulness-Based Stress Management course at Uppsala University!
Mindfulness is about being purposefully aware, in the moment, without judgement. In this course, we will practice mindfulness through meditations, yoga, and reflections, and by weaving in more deliberate awareness into daily life. We will do so by first following the eight-week research-based program Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). The final two weeks of the course focus on current research on mindfulness and health.
The course aims to give evidence-based tools for stress management, well-being and health. However, please note, that no-one else can do this work for you, than You!
Again, a very warm welcome to the course, I look forward to practicing with you this spring!

So, as you see above, the first eight weeks of the course are dedicated to the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. There will be one Tuesday class and one Thursday class (schedule in Modules). You will be assigned to and participate in one class for the duration of the 8-week program, on Tuesdays or Thursdays. We all participate in the Silent retreat day on Sunday March 2 (both classes together)! During these eight weeks, you will be writing a diary, to keep track of your experiences and later remember easier what actually happened in the flow of things.
In the final two weeks of the course, there will be a three guest lectures on the most recent research on mindfulness (on Zoom) - and you will also participate in two examining seminars: 1) the MBSR-Reflection seminar (based on your diary), and 2) the Mindfulness-Research seminar (to which you will write a paper on a Mindfulness-related research topic of your choice), more under Modules.
