The media course is a self-study course related to recordings for education and research. Those of us who have developed this course are educational developers and studio technicians at the Recording Studio Blåsenhus (Uppsala University). The course takes approximately 2-4 hours to complete in its entirety.
Content: In this course, you will learn about all the steps to create a recording - from the planning stage to an actual recording and how to engage your target audience or embed a recording in a course. You will see examples of recordings made in the studio and learn from our experiences with users in the studio.
For whom: This course is intended for those who are curious about creating educational materials in the form of recordings, as well as for those who have previous experience with creating recordings and are interested in taking the next step.
Aims: After completing the course, the goal is for you to have developed knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the choice and production of high-quality media for higher education and research. The course also encourages reflection on various forms of media.
Structure: The course consists of four modules. You can choose to delve into specific parts or follow the course chronologically, from the first module about planning your recording to the last one about how to engage your viewers or embed a recording in your course. In the course discussion forum, you have the opportunity to pose a question or reflect together with other course participants.
Recurring elements in the course: Two recurring elements in this course are Next Steps and Reflection allow individual adaptation of the course course content and how what you learn can be applied. These two elements are color-coded in green and purple and also have different icons for easy recognition.
Next steps
We encourage you to challenge yourself by exploring the Next Steps information, even if it seems advanced. It will be valuable for future reference. Given that participants have varying levels of prior knowledge and interests, you have the flexibility to take the next step when you are ready.
Reflection
As a course participant, after being exposed to new information and acquiring knowledge in a specific area, the Reflection component allows you to reflect independently. This reflection helps you understand how to apply the new knowledge in your own context.
Welcome to the Media Course from the studio team at Recording Studio Blåsenhus!
For the spring term of 2025, we have developed "Studiomenyn" ("the Studio Menu", currently only in Swedish) – a collection of examples based on different recording possibilities to inspire you as a user.
