Course syllabus
The Master programme students at the IGP department: Forensic, IMIM, Molmed and MedNucTech will all join Bioinformatics during autumn 2022. Send an email to Johanna Söderlund if you are a freestanding student and want to participate in PT (Professional Training) and or the Bioinformatics modules.
Welcome to the Bioinformatics mini-course!
The goal of this course is to introduce bioinformatics and computational biology from a perspective that is highly relevant for biomedical students who are planning to embark on MSc-degree projects.
In the course, we will focus on four concrete topics: pathways, gene expression images and statistics (see schedule below). Each topic is introduced by a lecture, followed by a computer lab, where you get some hands-on experience, with real-life data, using tools that are used by researchers today.
In addition to the lecturers, who are domain experts in biological networks (Transcriptomics (Liqun He), image analysis (Ida-Maria Sintorn) and statistics (Emerald Heiland), the computer labs will be attended by PhD students and others who will help out.)
To pass the course, you should attend the lectures, the summary/evaluation in December and do all assignments. There is no further test/exam.
